Current trends in dentistry practice in my country.
Introduction
In this report, I am going to give you an insight into current trends that exists in Spain.
Over the last 10 years, there have occurred some great changes in methods that occur in contemporary restorative dentistry. In the past, dentists used to fix teeth, remove teeth (extractions), provide cleaning cavities and fit removable dental prostheses to replace missing teeth.
The changes in dentistry
Nowadays, the trends in dentistry has changed dramatically and most people are looking for a perfect smile.
The research and the development of new materials have improved dental aesthetic. Teeth whitening is the blossoming world of cosmetic dentistry, it has been used to benefit research and the aesthetic restorations as to let the ceramic have the same resistance and durability , in order to satisfy every budget, time frame and temperament.
First current trend of dentistry
Spain boasts of many excellent dental facilities that offers quality service, the dental industry has spent a lot of money to include competent dental surgeons.
Now, patients who have lost their smile from missing teeth do not need to have old treatments such us: sculpt the teeth to replace the missing teeth. Now the dentists can use implants to avoid the crown destruction of the healthy teeth.
In the last few years, patients are very worried about their appearance and for this reason dental aesthetic is nowadays one of the most visible current trends in modern dentistry. People are looking to have natural white teeth and perfect teeth with the following instruments: Teeth-whitening with laser in a dental clinic or having a dentist split at their own home.
Second current trend of dentistry
Orthodoncy is the second current trend in dentistry, the Orthodontics are a speciality inside odontology that devotes itself to locate the dental pieces in the place where they belong in the mouth by means of forces, mostly light, this is done by replacing the metallic bracket with an aesthetic bracket or a new method called invisaling (dental split).
However, Porcelain veneers sometimes also termed dental veneers or dental porcelain laminates <http://www.animated-teeth.com/porcelain_veneers/t1a_porcelain_veneers.htm>, are one of cosmetic dentistry’s more recent developments. These wafer-thin shells of porcelain which are bonded onto the front side of teeth <http://www.animated-teeth.com/porcelain_veneers/t1_porcelain_veneers.htm> can be an excellent cosmetic solution for teeth that are stained, chipped, or slightly misaligned.
Conclusion
In conclusion, thanks to todays technology many dentists send patients home with all the needed information in which laboratories have developed many materials and instruments to create a perfect dentition for its patients.
How I think dentistry will develop over the next ten years.
The history of dentistry
Dentistry has developed very widely in the last few years. If I talk about this matter from a personal point of view, I have been able to notice the changes in the different lands related to this industry (from yellow to white teeth through the whitening treatments; from loosing a tooth to having an implant that feels real, or brushing your teeth with a conventional manual toothbrush to doing it with an electric one that tells you what the appropriate times to do it are).
New dental treatments in the future
In my opinion, I believe that the dentistry is facing a bright future, new and exciting ideas are being developed. There are a lot of new technologies coming into the market place in the area of maintenance care, there will be a number of products which will control the bacteria in the mouth, and thus inhibit the development of calculus on the root of the teeth.
In addition to this, the dentist may be able to do some amazing things and not just only to your teeth such as using tooth x-rays but also to check for osteoporosis and check for cardiovascular diseases
Within the next ten years chocolate toothpaste may help your teeth stronger. A cocoa powder extract will make your teeth stronger and less susceptible to plaque. This will mean a chocolate chip toothpaste will prevent your teeth from tooth decay and will be more effective than fluoride. How delicious!
That means, regular dental check-ups and cleanings will be more important than ever as from mentioned above that your dentist may be able to detect early signs of diseases.
Employment change in the NHS Services.
I believe that there will be an increasing number of dental assistants and dental hygienists as the demand for dental treatment will grow because of population growth and there is a growing emphasis on preventative dental care. I believe it is important that they teach the patients how to take care of their teeth. Our teeth are as important for our wellbeing as a bone or any other part of the body, so I think they will be treated in the same way and in the future.
